Dental Hygienists for India - 2015
To enjoy good health is right of every child . Holistic health care for the children in the Projects supported by KNH/CCCYC is implemented through preventive awareness, personal hygiene and regular health care services with the participation of the children and the child care workers.
To enhance dental health hygiene awareness and care to
the vulnerable and needy children in South India in partnership with KNH and CCCYC a team of
eleven volunteers from Dental Hygienists for India, DHFI , UK, under the leadership of Ms. Tracey Lennemann
& Ms. Carol Brenhann visited CCCYC and KNH/CCCYC supported projects in the
South Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka
and Kerala from 23rd January to 5th
February 2015 to render free dental
hygiene awareness and care to the children in the projects.
Five teams of the DHFI volunteers
accompanied by a local dentist and the facilitating officers from CCCYC visited
Residential Care Projects, Day Care Centres, Projects for the Differently
Abled and Child Focused Community Development Projects
and rendered dental hygiene awareness and care to the children through dental
screening, cleaning, scaling and
filling, All the children in the projects
and staff of the projects were also benefited through inputs, personal
attention and care given by the Hygienists on preventive aspects and healthy
dental practices. The children were also happy to receive free tooth brushes.

Free tooth brush were
also distributed to all the children in the Projects by the visit DHFI volunteers during the visit to the
Project. A total number of 1813 children in the projects and the people in
the community were benefited though the
programmes organised.
The visits provided opportunities for the DHFI volunteers to
interact , learn and to experience the needs of the vulnerable children in the
projects. The visits also enabled the volunteers to experience the culture
and life of the children in the projects
and aspects related to dental health and hygiene.
