Visit of Mrs. Eva and Mr. Horst Herrmann Don Bosco Project for Street and Working Children at Secunderabad


On the 19th of Feb ’14, Mr. Horst Herrmann and Mrs. Eva Herrmann, Founders of Evelin Christiane Countess of Bethusy Huc Foundation, Germany visited the Don Bosco Project for Street and Working Children at Secunderabad, Project No. 21332 which is supported by CCCYC/KNH. They arrived on the 18th and visited the Project Don Bosco Navajeevan Technical Training Institute on the 19th Feb and left for Vijayawada to visit Deenabandhu Residential Project for Girls in Machilipatnam and to celebrate the Remembrance Day of their loving daughter Ms. Evelin Christiane.

The Project welcomed the visiting donors with the Band playing various songs after which they were introduced to the children. They also took a group photo along with all the children and the Staff. During the visit to Don Bosco Technical Institute located in Ramanthapur, Fr. Sudhakar Bellamkonda gave a brief overview on the background of the children, the various ways in which their life is transformed through counselling, education, vocational training, reintegration with their families, etc,. They visited all the Units, being Bakery Unit, Welding Unit, Carpentry Unit, Electrical Unit, Crafts Unit, Tailoring Unit, T-shirt making Unit, Computer Training Unit, and Printing Press Unit, where the children are being trained.

The visitors had a very hearty interaction with the children and were touched by the way the interventions empower the young persons at risk and enable them to lead a dignified life. They also enjoyed a very meaningful cultural event presented by the boys.
